Seyyed Hassan Khomeini issues congratulatory message to president-elect Masoud Pezeshkian

The grandson of the late founder of the Islamic Republic has congratulated president-elect Masoud Pezeshkian.

Seyyed Hassan Khomeini said in a congratulatory message that Your Excellency’s election can pave the path towards the development of county and to develop the country and solve the problems facing the deprived ones

The reputed scholar further said that we must not forget that Iran belongs to all Iranians.

He also said that no part of this nation or segment of society can be either neglected or ignored.

I am sure that the advantage of this opportunity should be taken and all elements of the Islamic system of the elected government should support the elected government in order to strengthen national cohesion, Seyyed Hassan Khomeini added. 

The president should be supported both in the domestic and international arenas. An atmosphere needed to be created in which the government can perform maximum with the assistance of supportive individuals or despite presence of diversity of opinions in the society. And of course, statement should also be working along with maximum accountability and responsibility, the scholar noted.

 Elsewhere in his message, Seyyed Hassan Khomeini also said that the public masses created an epic by massive participation in the election and it was done by wisdom of the leader of the Islamic Revolution.

The counting of votes commenced immediately after the polls closed following a ۱۶-hour voting process that saw more than ۵۰ percent voter turnout, significantly higher than the June ۲۸ election. 

More than ۳۰ million votes were cast as a large number of people flocked to polling stations in Tehran and other cities and villages across the country in response to the call made by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Voting was extended three times on Friday, each time by two hours, after ۶:۰۰ PM local time when the polling was supposed to close as per the constitutional requirement of a ۱۰-hour voting period.
