Imam&#۰۳۹;s residence in holy city of Najaf turns into historic site, draws attention of scholars and pilgrims

The house in which founder of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khomeini resided about ۱۴ years in exile in the holy city of Najaf has turned into a historical site.

In October ۱۹۶۵ he was allowed to move from Turkey to Iraq&#۳۹;s Najaf where he stayed until being forced to leave in ۱۹۷۸ by Saddam Hussein for Neauphle-le-Château, suburb of Paris in France.

The house of the late Imam Khomeini in the neighborhood of the shrine of Imam Ali  is a historical house located in the south of the old city of Najaf, in the western part of Al-Rasoul Street, and near the library and tomb of Allamah Amini.

Imam Khomeini  lived in the house for about14 years.

This place, which was once the place to lead the greatest revolution of the last century, is now a museum. Pilgrims of Arbaeen 2022 and 2023 visited there in large numbers to know the atmosphere of those years of Imam Khomeini’s life by visiting this house.

After the fall of Saddam's regime, the project of repairing the house of Imam Khomeini was started and after several months, this project was completed. It is notable that this historical has two floors and its placed in the Share'e al Rasul near the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali ('a).

Parts of Imam's house has now also been turned into library and study room and lecture sites for international scholars and seminary students.
