Iranians have begun staging rallies across the country to mark the National Day of the Fight against Global Arrogance, also known as the National Student Day, chanting slogans against the United States and Israel over their crimes in West Asia.
The nationwide mass marches kicked off at 09:30 a.m. local time (0600 GMT) to commemorate the anniversary of the US embassy takeover.
In the Iranian capital Tehran, the protesters gathered outside the former headquarters of the US embassy, also known as the Den of Espionage.
On November 4, 1979, Iranian university students took over the US embassy building less than a year after the Islamic Revolution toppled the US-backed Pahlavi dictatorship.
They later published documents proving that the compound was indeed engaged in plans and measures to overthrow the Islamic Republic.
The occasion has then turned into a symbol of resistance and fierce fight against arrogant powers, marking the Iranian students’ vigilance in dealing with Washington’s threats.
During a meeting with a group of Iranian students on Saturday, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei warned the US and Israel that they will definitely receive a “teeth-breaking” response for what they are doing against Iran and the resistance front.
